‘Finally haters ki bolti band’ – Fans react as Akshay Kumar gets Indian citizenship, shares documents on social media

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has now become an Indian citizen. Informing about the same, he has shared official documents on social media. He has given this good news to the fans by sharing a picture of the document. Akshay previously had Canadian citizenship, due to which he had to face criticism many times.

Akshay took to Twitter and congratulated the fans on Independence Day by sharing the post on social media on August 15. He also told informed fans that he has now become an Indian citizen. Akshay wrote while sharing the photo, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind.”

Last year, Akshay talked about applying for Indian citizenship and said that it got delayed due to the pandemic. However, he also said that having Canadian citizenship doesn’t mean that he is not Indian.

“Having a Canadian passport does not mean I am any less of an Indian. I am very much Indian. I have been here since last nine years when I got the passport. And I don’t want to get into the reason of why, what happened, my films were not working, blah blah blah, chalo woh theek hai,” he said.

“Yes, I had said it in 2019, I applied for it. Then uske baad pandemic aagaya. Uske 2-2.5 saal sab kuch band hogaya. Renounce ka abhi mera letter aagaya hai (Then the pandemic happened and everything shut down for 2-2.5 years. My renounce letter is here) and very soon my whole passport will be coming. Main kya karu, maine thodi pandemic laya hai (What do I do. I didn’t bring the pandemic).”

Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ performed well at the box office

Talking about the work front, Akshay Kumar’s film OMG 2 is rocking at the box office. This film has been released in theatres on 11 August. In OMG 2, Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi appeared in the lead roles along with Akshay. This film is made on a sensitive issue which has been shown very well. OMG 2 clashed with Gadar 2 at the box office, however, the Sunny Deol starter movie overshadowed OMG 2.

After OMG 2, Akshay will soon be seen in the Hindi remake of Sorai Pottru. This film will be released in theatres on 1 September. In this film, Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal will be seen in the lead roles along with Akshay.
