Fawad Alam’s unique cricket record!
Pakistani Test cricket star Fawad Alam set a unique record in the 1st Test against Australia.
The Test, which was played in Rawalpindi ended in a tame draw.
On a placid wicket, the batters of both teams made merry as the bowlers didn’t get any purchase.
Shockingly, only 14 wickets fell in five days of play where rain also played a part.
It is an important series for Pakistan as it is the first time Australia has played on Pak soil in this century.
Fawad’s dubious distinction
Pakistan batted twice in the game and only lost four wickets.
They declared at a mammoth 476/4 after electing to bat first and in the second innings, the hosts didn’t lose a single wicket.
They compiled 252 runs for no wicket in the second innings.
Fawad Alam, who is designated to bat at number five, didn’t get to bat as the likes of Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed were promoted ahead of him to score quick runs.
Even as a bowler, he didn’t get a chance to roll their arms, though Pakistan used seven bowlers in the game.
Fawad didn’t get to do much in the fielding department as he neither took a catch nor effected a run-out.
In other words, Alam became the first Pakistani player in the last 28 years to finish a Test match without batting, bowling or catching.
As a result, Twitter was flooded with jokes regarding this ‘achievement’.
