England and Australia are clashing against each other in the 3rd Test of the Ashes 2023 series at the Headingley in Leeds which was started on Thursday, July 6. England made multiple changes for the 3rd Test after losing the first 2 Tests as they replaced James Anderson, Josh Tongue and Ollie Pope with Mark Wood, Chris Woakes and Moeen Ali respectively.

Meanwhile, many fans expected that the English side would not be playing with an aggressive approach as their ‘Bazball’ philosophy was under threat in the first 2 Tests. However, it didn’t go like that as despite losing back-to-back wickets in a regular interval of time, they kept scoring with pace. At one point, they smashed 56 runs off 27 balls after the lunch break when the team was 7 wickets down.

Brilliant bowling performance by Australia

However, some fans have said that they have to work on their strategy as ‘Bazball’ might not work against Australia. Talking about the match, England won the toss and opted to bowl first and the decision proved right as they bundled out the Australian team on the score of just 263 runs. Only Mitchell Marsh was the batter who looked confident against English fast bowlers as he smashed a breathtaking hundred. Wood took a fifer for his team.

Coming to bat, the Three Lions also struggled in the start as they lost their 2 wickets on just 22 runs. Zak Crawley and Joe Root tried to steady the ship but the 43-run stand was broken by Marsh. In the end, first Wood, then Stokes just went after everything. Australia had Pat Cummins who ended with a six-fer.

But Stokes took on Mitchell Starc first and then went after Todd Murphy. England added quick runs but fell short by 26 runs. However, the stage is all set for another thrilling contest between the two cricket giants, however, it’s a do-or-die match for the English side as a loss in this Test will also make them lose the iconic Ashes series.
