In the last league match of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India and the Netherlands played each other in Bengaluru. For the first time since the 2011 edition, both teams played against each other in an ODI game. Ahead of this game, the Men In Blue had already qualified for the first semifinal.

On the other hand, the Dutch missed out not just on the top-four finish but also on the Champions Trophy 2025 spot. Meanwhile, in this game, the home team won the toss and elected to bat first. They didn’t make any changes to the playing XI that played against South Africa a week back. With the bat, the two-time winners had a great start with skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting together 100 runs in just 11.5 overs.

Both batters scored a fifty each and after their wickets fell, the scoring rate dropped. At one stage, they were 140/2 at the end of 20 overs. After the likes of Sharma and Gill, former India skipper Virat Kohli scored a fifty too. After his wicket fell at the score of 200, the likes of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul put on a show.

Apart from scoring a hundred each, they put together 208 runs in 128 balls to help the team reach 401/4. For the first time after the 2007 edition, the former champions scored 400-plus in an ODI World Cup match.

India registered their ninth consecutive win of the tournament

Chasing 411 runs was always going to be a humongous task for the Orange Army. However, they managed to almost play out their quota of overs. Indian bowling unit, who was looking to get match time ahead of their semifinal game against New Zealand got what they wanted.

Notably, during the game, the likes of Kohli, Sharma, Gill, and Suryakumar managed to bowl as the team knew the match was in their grasp. For the visitors, Teja Nidamanuru scored a fifty in the game. In the end, the Asian side went on to win the game by 160 runs.
