It has not been a good year for Khiladi Kumar.

The trouble started when he was part of a debacle called Bachchan Pandey.

Next, Akshay Kumar came with the historical drama Samrat Prithviraj.

The film which was directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi hit the screens on June 3.

Sadly, it struggled from the first day itself.

During the first week of its release, the Akshay Kumar starrer barely managed to cross the 50 crores mark at the box office.

Soon after its release, the film was announced as a flop.

The film also starred Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, and Sanjay Dutt among many others.

Earlier the director had revealed that Akshay Kumar had told him beforehand that if Samrat Prithviraj flops then he would go back to doing masala entertainers.

The film was made on the budget of around 300 crore but it had managed to earn only 80 crore till date.

Looks like the actor’s comments have come back to haunt him.

The director Chandraprakash Dwivedi seems to be blaming Akshay Kumar for the film’s failure.

In his recent interview, he stated that the superstar’s controversies including his Pan Masala endorsement could have affected the film’s performance.

Dwivedi said that Akshay’s recent behaviour and public comments may not have gone done well with the audiences.

It appears that the relationship between the two has soured.

That’s why the director is probably making their private conversations public.

Apparently Akshay told Dwivedi “I was making Rowdy Rathore and Housefull. These films pay me more.”

“I made an attempt with Samrat Prithviraj. If people reject this, then no worries, I will go back to Rowdy Rathore.”

“People want to watch things which have no controversies. Then that is what I will do.”
