Dinesh Karthik has said that Ravi Shastri, the former coach of the Indian men’s cricket team had very little tolerance for failures.

Dinesh Karthik opened up on Ravi Shastri’s tenure as the Indian men’s cricket team coach and said that he wasn’t appreciative of two things about his players.

Ravi Shastri’s as coach of the Indian Cricket team was a successful one, as they won back-to-back Test series in Australia and also reached the first-ever Test Championship final.

He also brought a new attitude and fearlessness to the Indian Cricket Team during his time as the coach.

Speaking on Cricbuzz’s docuseries Summer Stalemate, as quoted by Hindustan Times, Karthik said that Shastri had a very low tolerance for players who wouldn’t bat at a certain pace he didn’t like or if someone was doing differently in a match as compared to their efforts in the net.

“He had a very low tolerance for somebody who wouldn’t bat at a certain pace he did not like or someone who was doing very differently in the nets and in the match, he would go and bat differently,” Karthik said

He would not be very appreciative of that. Shastri knew exactly what he wanted from the team, the way in which it was played, but his tolerance was very little for failures. He always used to push people to do very well,” he added. ( H/T Indian Express  )

The Indian wicketkeeper-batter also went on to say that Shastri fulfilled his talent as a coach and did much better than what he was expected to do.

Karthik also went on to say that the former coach was a larger-than-life person while he was in the role and always pushed the players to achieve special things.

“I think Shastri the player was somebody who was probably not as talented but fulfilled his talent as a coach.” Karthik quoted

“He did much better than what he was expected to do. As a coach, he was a larger-than-life person. He was somebody who pushed players to try and achieve special things,” said Karthik.
