Dembele, Camavinga recalled to French squad
France is one of the favourites for the Qatar World Cup along with Brazil.
It’s possibly the only team that can field two equally strong staring elevens, such is their embarrassment of riches!
One of their brightest stars who is lighting up Europe is Ousmane Dembele.
He has been rewarded with a recall to French squad thanks to his impressive start to the season at Barcelona.
Dembele will be part of France’s upcoming Nations League matches against Austria and Denmark.
Dembele has two goals and four assists in seven matches, which is a mind-boggling return.
Another star who makes a comeback is AC Milan striker Oliver Giroud.
However, several key names are missing due to injury, such as Karim Benzema, Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante.
Pogba and Kante’s absence has led to Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana being called up for the first time.
Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga also gets his foot in the door, once again thanks to the absence of France’s regular midfielders.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe is also out for six weeks through injury, which opens the door for Fofana’s team-mate Benoit Badiashile.
Another interesting addition to the squad is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, who has two goals and four assists in six Bundesliga appearances.
Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman, Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby and Aston Villa pair Lucas Digne and Boubacar Kamara are some of the big names that have been left out, owing to poor form.
France have been drawn against Australia, Denmark and Tunisia in Group D at the World Cup.
