The first song from the highly-anticipated Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer, Pathan was released by Yash Raj Films a few days ago.

Titled Besharam Rang, it featured Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron bikini and grooving in the arms of Shah Rukh Khan who is wearing green!

SRK and Deepika’s sizzling chemistry impressed many fans.

However, a section of netizens slammed the actress for sporting saffron coloured bikini, that too in a song whose lyrics use the word, Besharam Rang.

The song has quite a catchy tune, with Shilpa Rao’s melodious voice perfectly complementing Vishal and Shekhar’s music. Besharam Rang has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.

However, the choice of using a saffron-coloured bikini is hurting the religious sentiments of some people.

The title of the song, which means ‘shameless colour’, has also become a sore point for these people as they are equating it to the saffron colour that Deepika wears in the video.

Due to the controversy, there have been calls to get the song banned from the movie Pathan.

An advocate has even filed a written complaint with the Information & Broadcasting Ministry for the same.

Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra reacted to Pathaan song Besharam Rang saying that it ‘has been shot with a dirty mindset’.

The minister said, “The costumes in the song at first glance are objectionable. It is clearly visible that the song of the film Pathaan has been shot with a dirty mindset.”

“I don’t think this is right, and I will tell the director and makers of the film to fix it. Earlier also Deepika Padukone came in the support of Tukde Tukde Gang at JNU and that’s why her mentality has come in front of everyone before.”

“And that is why I believe that the name of this song Besharam Rang is also objectionable in itself and the way saffron and green have been worn, the colours of the song, the lyrics and the title of the film are not peaceful.”

“It needs improvement. If it is not done, then we will consider whether its telecast should be allowed in Madhya Pradesh.”

“Now let’s see, so far all those who have been asked have improved. If it’s not done then we will consider,” he also added.

The Mahant of Ayodhya’s Hanuman Garhi Raju Das, on the other hand, appealed to the public to boycott the movie.

“I appeal people to set the theatres where Pathaan will be screened on fire,”

Helmed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan is scheduled to hit theatres on January 25, 2023.

Apart from Shah Rukh and Deepika Padukone, the film also stars John Abraham.

Pathaan was shot in eight different countries to give the audience a visual spectacle.
