Dean Elgar to bid adieu to international cricket after Test series against India in 2023/24

Dean Elgar is set to have his last dance in international cricket following the series against India in 2023/24. Elgar has been one of the best players of SA in the last 8 years in the longest format of the game. He helped SA to overcome a difficult period in Test cricket both as a batter and as a captain. After Faf Du Plessis, he led SA in the longest format of the game.

Elgar revealed about the same while speaking to the reporters recently. The opener claimed that the Test series against India would be his last assignment as a player in international cricket. Elgar said that playing Test cricket for SA has been like a dream of him and eventually getting a chance to represent the nation at the highest level has been his ultimate achievement.

Elgar revealed that he has been happy about getting to play for SA for over 12 years. The Southpaw considered it a wildest dream to represent SA for a long time. Elgar considered himself to be fortunate to have played for SA for a long time and felt that his journey as a cricketer had been incredible till that point. Dean admitted that his time has been up as a cricketer at the highest level.

The star batter in the longest format of the game said that the series against India will be his last in international cricket. “As they say, ‘all good things come to an end’, and the Indian home series will be my last, as I have made the decision to retire from our beautiful game. A game that has given me so much,” said Skipper Elgar, who felt that the game has given him so much.

Elgar revealed that Cape Town is his favorite stadium to play, and to end his career in the stadium would be perfect. He then remembered his Test debut against NZ at the venue. “The Cape Town Test will be my last. My favorite stadium in the world. A place I scored my first Test run against New Zealand and hopefully my last too,” concluded Elgar.
