David Warner set a new record in Australian cricket in the number of matches. The star cricketer played the first T20I against the West Indies, which happened to be his 100th T20I match. Not many players have been able to play as many T20Is for Australia as the Southpaw. But he set a new record for the number of caps in international cricket for Australia.

Warner became the first cricketer from Australia to become a player with at least a hundred international caps across all the formats of the game. Warner recently retired from Test cricket after the conclusion of the third Test against Pakistan at Sydney. It was his 112th and the last match in the longest format of the game for Australia. He also retired from ODIs last year.

The star batter is continuing to play in T20Is for Australia. In the game against the West Indies, the 37-year-old batted well as he scored 70 runs in 36 balls. The knock of Warner helped Australia to post a good total on the board. Against a bowling lineup consisting of the likes of Akeal Hosein, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Rovman Powell, and Andre Russell, Warner batted well.

Third player to join the elite club

Warner became only the third cricketer to play a hundred or more matches across all the formats of the game. The star cricketer joined the elite club of Virat Kohli and Ross Taylor, who also played a hundred or more matches for their team. Ross was the first player to achieve the feat. The Kiwi batter set the record in 2021 when he played the WTC final against India at Southampton.

Taylor played 112 Tests, 102 T20Is, and 236 ODIs for NZ before retiring from all the formats. A year later, Virat joined the elite club as he played his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka at Mohali. At the moment, the Indian batter has played 113 tests, 292 ODIs, and 117 T20I matches for India. All three players on the list are batters. Some players might enter the club shortly.
