Discarded India opening batter Prithvi Shaw tried to make fun of ‘Bazball’ brand of cricket in a recent interview. The brand of cricket was introduced in the England Test team last when Brendon McCullum became their head coach. They have played the game with a different conviction, scoring almost five to six runs per over. Not to forget, they scored 506/4 against Pakistan in one of these Tests last December.

Even though the method has been tested by a strong bowling unit of Australia, the team has managed to keep the series alive. The fourth game of the ongoing Ashes 2023 will start on July 19. Meanwhile, ahead of the game, Shaw has given his two cents on the playing method of the Three Lions.

He started by saying that he never understood the term. The right-hander added that Mitchell Marsh looks like a player who can play Bazball.

“I don’t understand what they mean when they say Bazball. I assume looking at Mitchell Marsh bat that he’s a proper Bazball cricketer. People will come out with new names”, the Mumbai-born player said.

The way I play is to see the ball, hit the ball: Prithvi Shaw

The U19 World CUp 2018 winning skipper added that he likes to play his shots.

‘The way I play is that if I see the ball, I hit the ball. I don’t know what people will call that. Whether they call it baseball, hockey or whatever they want to call it, at the end of day, woh apna cricket hai (that’s our sport – cricket),” the 23-year-old player further added.

Currently, he is out of reckoning in the Indian team. He was part of the team for the home series against New Zealand early this year. However, his poor form in the IPL 2023 and continuous struggle against short ball and the ball seaming him has kept him out of the team.
