Former India skipper Virat Kohli is playing his 500th international game combining all formats of the game. Ahead of the game, he was looking for his first overseas hundred after late 2018. Meanwhile, the team had a great start as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored fifties and put together 139 runs. However, Shubman Gill’s failure meant that Kohli came out to bat at 153/2.

The latter saw the likes of skipper Sharma and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane fall cheaply. At 186/4, Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja put together 102 runs before the stumps were called on Day One. The former was batting on 88 runs at the end of the Day. On the ongoing second day, the right-hander reached his 76th international hundred. Notably, he missed out in the first Test last week.

The former India skipper went on to score 121 runs off 206 balls including 11 fours. He put together 159 runs with Jadeja. The former was run out by Alzarri Joseph. On the other hand, Jadeja scored 61 off 152 balls before getting caught behind by Joshua Da Silva. At the time of writing, Lunch break has been taken and the team has reached 373/6.

The likes of Ishan Kishan and Ravichandran Ashwin would like to add as many runs as they can.
