Bollywood actress Tamannaah Bhatia recently opened up about the harsh impact of social media negativity on her life. In a candid interview, she delved into the challenges she faces, including online hate and moral policing, which have become an unfortunate reality for many celebrities in the digital age.

The actress shared her insights into why she believes she’s often targeted by trolls. She emphasized the need for a more positive and compassionate online environment, highlighting the detrimental effects of cyberbullying. She believes that every actor has faced hate on social media once in their lives. She also revealed that the first time she started getting online hate, it took her by storm.

“In this journey (in films), there comes a time for everyone, when there is a lot of hate directed towards you and inevitably on social media because it is mostly faceless people literally writing anything they feel like about you, which can be really nasty. For me, when that happened to me for the first moment, it took me by storm and I was very uncomfortable with it because it really made me feel like what was going on? Is something that I have done gone wrong?” Tamannaah was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Sometimes there is a lot of moral policing people do: Tamannah Bhatia

Tamannaah’s willingness to discuss these issues sheds light on the importance of addressing the darker aspects of social media and promoting empathy on these platforms. The actress said that she once asked herself where this hate comes from. She believes that the reason behind this is sometimes people forget that they are just actors and start moral policing. She recently faced a lot of trolls after she announced her relationship with actor Vijay Varma.

“When I spent some time on my own, I literally asked myself ‘Where do you think this comes from?’ Sometimes there is a lot of moral policing people do, not realising that you are an actor, you are a performer and they expect you to be an idealistic version of something that is ideal in their way, in their head. So it is not necessary that what they are projecting towards you is about you, it’s actually about them.” she said.
