Check out reason behind Hardik Pandya’s trade from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians
Social media has been abuzz following reports of Gujarat Titans’ captain, Hardik Pandya, being traded to Mumbai Indians. Despite confirmation from several prominent sports sites and journalists, the official announcement from both franchises is pending. The revelation is anticipated to be made by the morning of November 26.
Meanwhile, a sports site named Cricket Cult has revealed the reason behind Hardik’s departure from GT. They have claimed that in July-August earlier this year, Hardik reportedly sought increased remuneration and brand endorsements from Gujarat Titans’ owner, CVC Capital Partners, but faced direct refusal. Subsequently, he approached Mumbai Indians, finalising a deal in August. The announcement was delayed due to the ODI World Cup.
“As per inside reports, Hardik Pandya was asking for more money and brand endorsements from Gujarat Titans’ owner CVC Capital Partners but management refused him directly. This incident happened somewhere in July-August. Later Hardik contacted Mumbai Indians management with the same demands. Mumbai Indians assured him of brand endorsements. The deal between Hardik and Mumbai Indians was completed in the month of August but due to the World Cup, they didn’t disclose it.” Said Cricket Cult.
Will Hardik Pandya replace Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians’ captain?
However, only Hardik can confirm whether the reason stated by Cricket Cult is accurate or if there are additional factors that led to his move to MI. The players’ transfer window for the IPL 2024 auction closes on November 26, so there might be another surprising announcement before that deadline.
With Hardik rejoining the MI squad, fans are speculating that the franchise is contemplating appointing the star all-rounder as captain, as there are reports of Rohit Sharma retiring from the lucrative league. Additionally, it is anticipated that Rohit might also retire from the T20I format to concentrate solely on ODI and Test cricket.
