Ranbir Kapoor’s film Animal made waves since its release on December 1, quickly becoming the actor’s highest-grossing movie. With earnings totalling INR 467 crores in India and nearing the 800 crore mark globally, it continues to pose a formidable challenge to other blockbuster releases like Pathaan, Jawan, and KGF.

Despite facing competition from Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur at the box office, Animal overshadowed Meghna Gulzar’s directorial efforts. The movie received mixed response from the audience but it didn’t make any impact on its collection. Many fans loved the movie but there were also some viewers who found the movie ‘mail-dominating’.

The film is set to premiere on the OTT platform Netflix at the end of January 2024, offering viewers an extra dose of entertainment with a 30-minute extension. Originally running for 3 hours and 21 minutes, the extended version will be 3 hours and 51 minutes long. Ranbir addressed concerns about the film’s length, stating, “The story of ‘Animal’ requires this amount of time to reach the audience. We saw the first cut that was 3 hours and 49 minutes and we were entertained. Don’t be panicked by the length and just come experience cinema at its best.” Ranbir was quoted as saying by India Today.

There would be a sequel of Animal as well

While the theatrical release underwent several cuts, the OTT version will feature all scenes, providing viewers with a more comprehensive experience. Bobby Deol, who portrayed ‘Abrar’ in the film, recently disclosed the removal of a kissing scene with Ranbir Kapoor in the ending scene. Whether this scene will be included in the OTT release remains to be seen, adding an element of anticipation for the audience.

Bobby received a lot of love from the audience. Despite being dumb in the movie, Bobby was successful in winning the audience’s hearts with just his expressions and thrilling action scenes. The post-credit scene of the movie revealed that there would be a sequel to it as well named Animal Park.
