Champions League: Ronaldo seals Man United comeback Bayern Hammer Benfica

Manchester United overturned a 2-0 first-half deficit to secure an astonishing 3-2 victory over Serie A side Atalanta at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were not in their best shape going into the clash, having won only one of their last five matches.

Their dreadful run looked likely to continue as the hosts fell behind in the 14th minute of the game.

Mario Pasalic effortlessly directed a Davide Zappacosta cross home to break the deadlock before Merih Demiral extended the lead in the 29th minute.

Fred and Marcus Rashford had good chances to score for Manchester United in the first half, but the score remained unchanged in the first half.

The Old Trafford crowd made their thoughts known as they booed off the team during the interval.

Perhaps the jeering acted as a motivational force for the Red Devils as they sprung back to life in the second half.

Marcus Rashford pulled one back 8 minutes after the restart, and Harry Maguire restored parity later on. In both cases, Bruno Fernandes served as the provider.

The comeback was complete in the 81st minute as Ronaldo jumped high to meet an enticing Luke Shaw cross and deftly headed it into the Atalanta goal.

The win puts Manchester United top of Group F with six points.

Barcelona’s pip Dynamo

Barcelona recorded their first Champions League win since December 2020 as they picked up a comfortable 1-0 victory against Dynamo Kyiv.

Gerard Pique thumped the ball into the net with a powerful volley from Jordi Alba’s cross in the 35th minute.

Ansu Fati missed a glaring chance in the second half to make it 2-0, but Kyiv could do little to cancel out Barcelona’s slender lead.

Benfica run out of steam 

Benfica did an excellent job to hold out Bayern Munich till the 70th minute, but a frenetic 15-minute phase saw them losing the game by 4-0.

Leroy Sane scored the first and last goal of the match.

In between, Everton came off the bench to score an own goal, and Lewandowski made it 3-0 three minutes before Sane scored his second goal.

Chelsea cruise to easy win

Chelsea lost their strikers Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku to injuries, but that did not stop them from cruising to a 4-0 victory against Malmo.

Jorginho scored twice from the penalty spot, and Andreas Christensen scored his first senior goal for Chelsea.

Kai Havertz was the other Chelsea player to get his name on the score sheet.

Lille and Sevilla played out a 0-0 draw. The Ligue 1 champions have been winless in the Champions League since 2012.

Late winner for Juventus

Juventus scored a late winner through Dejan Kulusevski four minutes from time against Zenit St. Petersburg.

The match did not present many opportunities to both teams, and it seemed destined for a goalless draw before Kulusevski found the net.

Noah Okafor struck twice as RB Salzburg piled more misery over VfL Wolfsburg, handing them a demoralizing 3-1 defeat.

The win places the Austrian outfit in contention for their first-ever knockout stage qualification in the Champions League.

Birthday boy Yeremi Pino and Gerard Moreno struck early to put Villarreal on the driving seat in their Champions League Group F encounter with Young Boys.

The match ended 4-1 in favour of the Yellow Submarines, which is their first win in the Champions League group stage since 2008.
