India’s young batter Prithvi Shaw was once considered as the upcoming future star of the Indian cricket team, however, things didn’t go right with the right-hander as he failed to perform in the Indian Premier League and also sustained some injuries as well due to which he lost his place from the team. Apart from this, he was also involved in some off-field controversies which made things worst for him. 

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old batter has started writing the script for his comeback as he has been performing brilliantly for Northamptonshire in the ongoing One-Day Cup 2023. Shaw recently smashed a brilliant double-century but riding on this exceptional knock, he has once again delivered a magnificent performance for Northamptonshire.

Shaw smashed another century in the ongoing tournament and played an unbeaten 125-run knock which came off just 76 deliveries. His innings consisted of 15 fours and 7 sixes. He single-handedly helped the team to win the match convincingly as he made the chase so easy for his team.

However, this now raises questions for the Indian Cricket Board as there are multiple batters who are eyeing the spot for the opening position in the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023. As Shaw has started performing well in the 50-over format, he also becomes one of the contenders to get a place in the team as an opener.

However, the only thing which can make things wrong for him is his fitness. Shaw is not in his great appearance as it is quite visible that he still hasn’t started working on his fitness. But there are still some days left for the mega event and the batter can work on his body. 

Talking about the match, batting first, Durham were restricted by Northamptonshire on the score of just 198 runs. Chasing the target, Northamptonshire lost their 2 wickets on the score of just 61 runs but the partnership between Shaw and Rob Keogh helped the team to chase the target easily.
