‘Chad move, Rinku bhai!’ – Fans react as Rinku Singh confirm construction of hostel for underprivileged kids

Rinku Singh, who recently received his maiden Team India call-up in the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and the Asian Games 2022, has confirmed that he is building a hostel for underprivileged kids to stay and practice their cricket coaching. He is building this dream project of his along with a friend, as PTI reports. This is opposed to the earlier reports where his childhood coach called it ‘Rinku’s project entirely’. The hostel is located in Aligarh, Rinku’s hometown.

He recently opened up on his selection in the upcoming tour of Ireland. He said, “My job is to score runs. If I get an opportunity, I would try to do well.” He also added on the fame and success he has received since his breakout in the Indian Premier League 2023. “Life has changed a lot as people now recognise me. I never believe in hyping things up. I want to keep things normal and play normal cricket,” he noted.

Masood Uz Zafar Amini, Rinku’s childhood coach had earlier spoken at length about the upcoming project. “The hostel has fourteen rooms, it will accommodate more than 50 children. Besides the accommodation facility, there will also be a training ground, alongside a canteen, so that every requirement of those who will be staying here is taken care of,” he said. However, recent reports say that the project has been scaled down to accommodate at least 15 children which will be extended further with time.

“The construction began around seven months ago. Currently, 90% of the work is done, and we are hopeful that it will be ready within the next month. We have not finalised the inauguration date yet. Rinku will return to Aligarh after the IPL season concludes, and hopefully, we will inaugurate the hostel as soon as he is back,” Amini further commented. However, the inauguration is still pending and the recent interaction with PTI was the first instance where Rinku Singh himself confirmed the project.
