Pakistan wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan has scored another ODI hundred in the ongoing ODI WC 2023 game against Sri Lanka. Batting first, the 1996 winners had a poor start with Kusal Perera (0) getting out early. At this point, the likes of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis took the game on and put together 102 for the second wicket. The former went on to score 51 off 61 balls.

On the other hand, Mendis scored 77-ball 122 runs including 14 fours and six sixes. After his wicket, Sadeera Samarawickrama came in and got his maiden ODI hundred. However, despite this, the Lions lost the plot in the last few overs and were rather restricted to 344/9. For the 1992 winners, Hasan Ali took four wickets while Haris Rauf took two. On the other hand, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan took one each.

In reply, the Green Brigade lost early wickets again with Imam-ul-Haq getting out the same way he did against the Netherlands, i.e. caught at deep fine leg. On the other hand, skipper Babar Azam failed with the bat once again as he caught down the leg side after getting 10 runs.

At 37/2, Rizwan came in and started to build his innings with Abdullah Shafique, who replaced Fakhar Zaman in the team. With Shafique, Rizwan put together 176 runs for the third wicket. The right-hander Shafique scored his maiden ODI hundred. Even though he got out to Matheesha Pathirana, Rizwan kept the game going. With Saud Shakeel (31), the wicketkeeper batter added another 95 runs, which proved vital for the team’s win.

While Shakeel getting out to Maheesh Theekshana, Rizwan scored his maiden ODI World Cup hundred. He remained unbeaten on 131 runs off 121 balls including eight fours and three sixes and helped the team chase down the target with six wickets in hand. With this, they managed to register their highest chase in World Cup cricket.
