‘Bumrah ke aage koi bol sakta hai kya’ – Fans react as Jasprit Bumrah’s 6-wicket haul highlights India’s dominance on Day 2 of 2nd Test against England
India ended the Day 2 of the 2nd Test on a high by dismissing England. In the 1st innings at Vizag, India shined and made a good comeback after losing the 1st Test by 28 runs. India added 60 runs in the 1st session of the Day 2.
After starting the day with a score of 336/6, India lost the wicket of Ravichandran Ashwin early. Yashasvi Jaiswal was brilliant yet again and managed to get to the landmark of 200 and became the third youngest Indian batter to score a double hundred in the longest format of the game.
Only Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar were younger than Jaiswal when they got their maiden Test hundreds. India ended with a score of 396 runs in their first innings. Replying to it, the English openers were off to a flier. It meant that England owned the 1st session of the day totally.
Jasprit Bumrah weavs magic
India came up with better plans in the last two sessions as it was visible the way they operate. Kuldeep Yadav opened the floodgates for the home side with the wicket of Ben Duckett. What followed it was the masterclass from Jasprit Bumrah. The star pacer was at the batters right from the start and held intensity throughout his spell.
While Kuldeep was brilliant from the other end as well, it was Bumrah who looked the most threatening of the lot. The right-arm pacer first got the wicket of Joe Root with a brilliant plan. He dismissed Ollie Pope with a terrific yorker, which was the highlight of the day. Bumrah dismissed Jonny Bairstow to give a huge advantage to the home side.
The 30-year-old dismissed Ben Stokes with a terrific delivery, which ensured that the last recognized batter of England was sent back. Jasprit claimed the wicket of Tom Hartley to claim his second fifer at home. It was the 4th catch of the day from Shubman Gill. Bumrah dismissed James Anderson to wrap up the innings of the visiting side.
