Brendon McCullum has given a huge update on Ben Stokes’ participation in the Test series against India. Ahead of the Hyderabad Test, McCullum has spoken about the return of Stokes. As the All-rounder underwent surgery after the conclusion of the ODI WC 2023, there were doubts regarding him taking part in Tests against India. The England Test coach has confirmed the participation of Ben in the first Test.

There were doubts over Stokes taking part in the first Test against India. Brendon has given an update on the same. Ben had undergone left knee surgery soon after the ODI WC 2023. The England batter was referring to his problem with the left knee right from the Ashes 2023. He finally got some time to get the surgery done after the end of the ODI WC 2023.

Speaking about the recovery of Stokes, Brendon referred to Ben as ‘Stripping fit’ and called him to ‘Look like a greyhound’. McCullum added that Stokes has worked a lot to be fit as soon as possible and added that his work ethic is second to none. With Harry Brook having returned home due to personal reasons, McCullum confirmed the participation of Stokes in the 1st Test.

“Ben Stokes looks like a greyhound, he’s stripping fit. He’s put the hard work in, and everyone knows his work ethic is phenomenal,” said McCullum ahead of the first Test. Brendon felt that Stokes is good to go as he claimed the star cricketer to be running around. The former Kiwi skipper confirmed that the call on the England captain would be taken as late as possible.

McCullum felt that Stokes has given every effort from his side to be available for the 1st Test at Hyderabad. “I’ve seen him running around and I think he’s good to go. We’ll obviously make that call as late as we need to. But he’s put all the work in, and we’ll just have to wait and see,” McCullum added as he confirmed the participation of Stokes in the first Test.
