The director of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Ryan Coogler reveals the original storyline.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is just a few weeks away from its worldwide theatrical release. Director Ryan Coogler has opened up about the original plot of the movie that was scraped due to the unfortunate death of Chadwick Boseman.

As per Direct Tabloid, the entire cast and crew spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on what the script was about before lead actor Boseman’s death.

“Losing your centerpiece, everything changed,” Lupita Nyong’o said expressing how things changed after losing somebody so pivotal to the film. “When you say the world rotated around him, it revolved around him, it did.”

The sequel, according to Coogler, was initially “based in T’Challa’s perspective,” and it included the typical Marvel action and adventure in addition to being a “character study.”

“The script we wrote before Chadwick passed was very much rooted in T’Challa’s perspective,” he said. “It was a massive movie but also simultaneously a character study that delved deeply into his psyche and situation.”

According to the source, Marvel Studios VP Nate Moore said that after opting to continue with Black Panther 2 without T’Challa, it felt almost natural to have “someone else carrying up the mantle.”

“The Black Panther has existed in Wakanda for centuries, so the notion of someone else picking up the mantle didn’t seem inorganic. But once that had to become a reality, then it was, ‘OK, what makes the most sense for the story?” He said.

Then he continued, “Who actually makes the most sense to take this thing on?’ All of the characters in the film have a different idea of who should don the mantle and why.”

Lupita Nyong’o also added, “If I told you that, I might as well just … swim into the ocean and never be seen again.”

The final MCU Phase 4 movie is likely to be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. On November 11, this sequel is expected to be seen in theaters.
