The upcoming T20 series between India and Australia is set to kick off with the first match scheduled for November 23 in Visakhapatnam. With star all-rounder Hardik Pandya unavailable, Suryakumar Yadav has been entrusted with the captaincy, while Ruturaj Gaikwad will serve as the vice-captain.
The selection committee has made some unexpected choices for the series. Notably, seasoned leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, as well as Ryan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju Samson, have been omitted from the squad. Despite Chahal being the leading wicket-taker for India in T20 cricket, he was excluded from the ODI World Cup 2023 squad and has now been left out of the T20 series against Australia.
Ravi Bishnoi has been chosen as his replacement. Abhishek Sharma from Punjab, a proficient left-arm spin bowler who amassed 485 runs in 10 matches during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, also failed to secure a spot in the team. Meanwhile, Chahal recently reacted to his snub from the squad as he took to social media to post a smiling emoji on X (formerly known as Twitter).

Suryakumar Yadav didn’t have a great World Cup campaign
The Indian selectors have demonstrated faith in the players who showcased impressive performances during the Ireland tour and at the Asian Games for the upcoming T20 series against Australia (IND vs AUS). Gaikwad, who led the Indian team to a gold medal victory in the Asian Games held in China, has been appointed as the vice-captain.
Talking about Suryakumar, who will be leading the young Indian team in the upcoming T20I series against Australia, he didn’t impress much in the recently concluded ODI World Cup where the Indian team lost the final match by 6 wickets. The right-handed batter had a golden chance to shine in the final match but he ended up scoring just 18 runs.
