Suryakumar continues to dominate T20 cricket

Suryakumar Yadav scored incredible innings of 111 off 51 balls helped Team India defeat New Zealand by 65 runs at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

Former New Zealand legend Ross Taylor hailed Suryakumar’s innings as one of the best T20 hundred he has seen on foreign shores

Ross Taylor told ESPNCricInfo :

“It was an unbelievable innings. The way he started, the way he hits gaps; I have seen a lot of good innings in New Zealand by McCullum, Guptill, Munro, but that would have to be up there with the best T20 hundreds I have seen on these shores in the history of the game.”Taylor said

“He takes calculated risks; the inside-out shot over cover against spinners is such a low-risk shot. I think he had a little bit of luck when he tried to ramp Ferguson, but other than that, I don’t think he really gave him a chance. New Zealand brought up the fielders and he backed himself to hit over them.” he added

“He doesn’t try and over-hit the ball, try and muscle it over there; there’s still a lot of skill and he played really good cricketing shots.”

Yadav also broke former skipper Virat Kohli’s record of most Player of the Match awards by an Indian batter in a calendar year. Suryakumar has now won 7 of those awards in 2022 and hasn’t finished just yet.

Gambhir wants Sky to take No.3 Position

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir feels India should let Suryakumar bat at No.3 till the T20 World Cup

“The reason is that you don’t fiddle with someone’s form, just because you want someone else to get back in form.”

“He was unbelievable in England when everyone struggled, was brilliant in the West Indies as well. He’s 30 as well.”

“Virat Kohli, he has got so much experience, he can still come and bat at No.4, depending on the situation as well.”

“I personally feel that Surya should be batting at No.3 from here on till the World Cup and see how the results are going to be.”
