BBL: Maxwell smashes 154, Stars punish Hobart
Glenn Maxwell stuns the Hobart Hurricanes with his record-breaking batting.
Stoinis also scored an unbeaten 75 runs to helped his side to put 273 runs out on the board which is the 2nd highest total of overall T20 cricket so far.

Melbourne Stars defeated the Hobart Hurricanes comfortably by 106 runs in a record-breaking match at the MCG.
Maxwell’s and Stoinis unbeaten knocks of 154 and 75 runs respectively helped the Stars to put the highest-ever BBL score on the board today.
The target of 274 runs from 120 balls was too good for the Hurricanes to it chase down.
Hobart Hurricanes lost the match by 106 runs as they only scored 167 runs with the loss of 6 wickets from their 20 overs.
Maxwell’s record-breaking knock
Glenn Maxwell showed an unbelievable batting display today against the Hurricanes as he smashed an unbeaten 154 runs off just 64 balls which is the highest individual score in Big Bash League history.
Maxwell completed his ton on just 41 balls which is the 2nd fastest century of BBL, he remained just 2 balls shy of breaking Crag Simmons’s record of 39-ball hundred that he made in the 2014 BBL season.
His knock of 154* runs included 4 sixes and 22 fours.
Maxwell showed no mercy against the Hobart bowlers and scored runs against them all around the ground.
This was also the overall 9th highest individual score of T20 cricket.
Glenn Maxwell made a 97 run opening stand with Joe Clarke to set the platform for a big total.
He then shared a 44 run stand with Nick Larkin and a magnificent unbeaten 132 run stand with Marcus Stoinis for the 3rd wicket.
Stoinis also shines
Marcus Stoinis also played an excellent knock of 75 runs off just 31 balls to support Glenn Maxwell in reaching a big first-innings total.
Stoinis smoked 4 fours snd 6 sixes in his brutal batting display.
Due to Stoinis and Maxwell’s superb batting, Melbourne Stars scored 273 runs in their 20 overs which is the highest total in BBL history while the second-highest T20 cricket score overall.
Hobart Hurricanes lost all their confidence after the end of 1st innings as they never looked interested in winning the match while chasing the huge target of 274 runs.
Ben McDermott scored a half-century for Hobart but that was not enough to challenge the Stars total.
McDermott scored 55 runs off 33 balls including 2 fours and 4 sixes. D’Arcy Short remainders unbeaten on 41 runs from 36 nalls.
Hobart Hurricanes only managed to score 167-6 from their 20 overs and lost the match by a big margin of 106 runs.
Brody Couch picked up 3 wickets for 30 runs from his 4 overs.
