Ayushmann Khurrana on Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani:
The last Friday’s release of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, has been acclaimed as one of the most progressive films in recent memory. The film’s positive reviews are also translating to strong box office results as it has surpassed Rs 50 crore in just five days.
Ayushmann was questioned about the popularity of a movie like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which questions patriarchy and gender norms, at the premiere of Dream Girl 2’s trailer. The actor responded by stating that he has always “criticised toxic masculinity” both on and off-screen and that it is encouraging to see audiences responding positively to such ideas.
The actor confessed, “I’m pleased with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s progress. They’ve laid a solid foundation for addressing toxic masculinity because our movie will take it a step further. It’s tremendous fun to see people enjoying these films about social issues. The movie is more enjoyable in addition to its message. It’s very funny.”
Ayushmann added, “Of course, you draw inspiration from Govinda in Aunty No. 1 or Kamal Haasan sir in Chachi 420. This has been performed by numerous actors, including Kishore Kumar Ji. As a result, performers have had the chance to play characters like these every decade. With this movie, which expresses a lot in a lighthearted, enjoyable manner, I’m delighted I received it as well.”
