Australian Woman’s captain Meg Lanning takes indefinite leave from cricket

Australia’s world cup-winning captain Meg Lanning has decided to take a break from cricket for citing personal reasons. Cricket Australia has extended its full support to Lanning’s decision to take a break
Meg Lanning recently led the Australian Women’s team who secured a gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2022.
In the past two years, the Australian team has won some major trophies under the captaincy of Meg Lanning
She has led the team to T20 and 50-over World Cup titles alongside an Ashes series win.
In a written statement, Lanning said: “After a busy couple of years, I’ve made the decision to take a step back to enable me to spend time focusing on myself. I’m grateful for the support of CA and my teammates and ask that my privacy is respected during this time.”
Meg Lanning made her Australia debut in December 2010 in a T20I game against New Zealand.
She became the youngest Australian to score a century in international cricket in her second ever ODI when scored an unbeaten 104 against England in 2011.
She is also the third-youngest captain in Women’s Tests in 2015 at the age of 23. She has made 100 ODIs and 124 T20Is appearances, scoring 8,019 runs at an average of 43.81 with 17 hundred and 36 fifties.
