Audience rejects Shamshera and Ranbir
Shamshera has taken a poor opening at the box office.
The promotion and marketing were quite intensive and the film was released on 4600 screens across India.
All this created major expectations that Shamshera will join the likes of KGF2 and RR in the list of mega-hits.
However, what has actually occurred is a major shock.
On Friday, the film collected a pathetic 10.25 crores!
This, by no stretch of the imagination, is acceptable since there was so much at stake for the film.
A film of this scale and star value should ideally witness a 20 crores start.
The below the mark report has put a question mark on the future of the film.
There is a strong chance that it will end below YRF’s last film, Samrat Prithviraj and become the ‘Flop of the Year’.
Even the tickets were priced cheap, to entice the audience but looks like they had decided not to watch the film.
This is heart-breaking for Ranbir who was hoping that his first release after his marriage would have fared well at the box-office.
Sadly, the reviews have also been negative and that has further added to the debacle.
The best faring circuit was Mumbai, followed by some pockets in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The movie was expected to top Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 on opening day.
However, all expectations have been shattered.
We’ll wait for the weekend collections before passing our verdict on the film but right now, the signs aren’t encouraging.
