Anurag Thakur urges International Olympic committee to provide hosting rights of Olympics 2036 to India
Anurag Thakur made a huge claim on India’s chances of hosting the Olympics in 2036. The central minister claimed that India deserves to get an opportunity from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to host the biggest sporting event in 2036. Anurag felt that the Indian population was the main reason behind it. He said that India is the most populated country in the world.
Anurag said that when the Olympics happened in Tokyo in 2020, India had the highest population. He hence felt that it made complete sense for the IOC to hand over the hoisting rights to India. “We had the largest population to see the Olympic sports last time (in 2020 Tokyo) and this time, it makes more sense for the IOC to give the 2036 Olympics to none other than Bharat, our India,” claimed Anurag.
He further interpreted the motive of the Indian government regarding the same. In 2023, IOC’s summit took place in Mumbai, which was attended by PM Modi. He expressed the wish to see India hosting the Olympics. Anurag added that PM Modi was serious about India’s willingness to host the event in 2036. He added that India wishes to host the Youth Olympics in 2030.
India’s economy determinant in hosting the Olympics 2036?
“PM Modi made it very clear during the IOC session that India is very serious about hosting the 2036 Summer Olympics, and before that, we want to host the 2030 Youth Olympics. And, I have a reason to say so,” added Anurag in the statement. He was further asked about the venue and if it all of India would be willing to host the Olympics. While Anurag did not say anything about it, he was confident of India getting the hosting rights.
Anurag talked about India’s infrastructure to host the major event. He felt that India has everything it takes to host the event. He felt that India would have a better economy in the next 13 years, which would define its ability to host the tournament. Thakur felt that a huge market would be open for the event if India got to host the event for the first time in history.
