‘Always dreamt of playing for them’ – KL Rahul names his favorite IPL team in worrying statement for Lucknow fans
KL Rahul is currently riding high on the success of winning the ODI series in South Africa. The 31-year-old became just the second skipper after Virat Kohli to achieve this feat. The focus now moves to the Test Series which is set to begin on the 26th of December in Centurion.
As per reports, KL Rahul could be playing the test match as a wicket-keeper. Ishan Kishan is back in India after speaking about mental fatigue. KS Bharat has been named as the replacement for the two-match series. The 30-year-old though hasn’t exuded much confidence with the bat in the chances he has been given.
Next year, KL Rahul will take the helm of affairs ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Lucknow Super Giants will look to win their first title in just their third year in the league. The LSG team has qualified for the play-offs on previous two occasions.
KL Rahul names his favorite IPL team –
Star India player KL Rahul has revealed the name of his favorite IPL Franchise. It comes as no secret the 31-year-old has named Royal Challengers Bangalore as his favorite team. KL Rahul made his IPL debut with the RCB franchise in 2013 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Times Now recently carried a quote from KL Rahul where he was heard saying “RCB gave me the opportunity to showcase my talent when I was young. I am also from Bangalore, so I always dreamt of playing for RCB when the IPL started. I was lucky that I got to play for them for a few years, so RCB is very close to my heart.”
Gautam Gambhir the former mentor for Lucknow has sounded a warning for KL Rahul. The former Indian legend wants KL Rahul to keep wicket consistently till Pant returns. Speaking to Star Sports India, Gautam Gambhir hoped for KL Rahul to don the gloves for a longer time.
“I hope this is not a one-off situation because that would be unfair. His real challenge will not be wicketkeeping in South Africa, but on rank turners, in that five Test match series against England when Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar will be bowling. No challenge is bigger than that. If you are looking at these two Test matches, then I would rather not play him because I would look at long-term plans. India doesn’t have a long-term plan right now because you only have KS Bharat and Rahul now. But probably it is the right way of going about things in allowing KL Rahul to do the job until Rishabh Pant returns.”
