Rachin Ravindra is surely a name on everyone’s minds these days. His splendid innings on his ODI World Cup debut for New Zealand have made him a fan favourite already.

The prodigy began playing cricket at a young age and was selected as part of the 2016 World Cup New Zealand Under -19 squad. He competed during the 2018 U-19 World Cup as well, and he played Bangladesh in his first-ever T20I in 2021. Soon after that, he made his Test debut, and in 2023, he made his ODI debut.

He has so far participated in three tests, twelve ODIs, and eighteen T20 internationals. During the ODI World Cup 2023 encounter against Pakistan, he stunned everyone with an outstanding 97-run knock.

Although both of Ravindra’s parents are from India, Sachin Tendulkar as well as Rahul Dravid, two legendary batsmen for the Indian cricket team, gave him the name. Rachin’s name was reportedly inspired by the names Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid. This is because his parents are a tremendous fan of the two cricketing greats.

The left-handed batter was replacing Kane Williamson in the line-up since the former has been recovering from a knee injury. This kind of knock has surely caused a headache for New Zealand team management. Once the skipper Kane Williamson is ready, he will be back in the line-up.

Rachin Ravindra’s breathtaking knock against England

Due to his partnership alongside Devon Conway, New Zealand enjoyed a strong start to their campaign while England had little hope of a comeback in the game. They had an unbeaten partnership of 273 runs which has been the highest partnership for any wicket for New Zealand.

Devon Conway complimented the youngster well as both of them took on the mighty English bowling attack. At one point they looked like hitting all the deliveries to the boundary rope because of the momentum they had gained from their impeccable partnership.

Devon Conway finished on 153* whilst his young partner stayed unbeaten on 123. Their amazing start to the ODI World Cup 2023 has come as a massive positive for the New Zealand team.
