‘Agar aap 5 saal pehle mile hote toh’ – When Shah Rukh Khan jokingly threatened to kill reporter after continuous questions on his smoking habit

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) is known for his conversational and bold interviews. When he speaks, he is always on to the main point and never holds back, even when criticising his own work. Interviewers must be careful with their questions to prevent asking foolish ones. If you mess with SRK, be prepared for a hard-hitting response.

Meanwhile, an old video is getting viral on social media in which renowned journalist and well-known interviewer Prabhu Chawla can be seen taking Shah Rukh’s interview in his popular TV programme, Sidhi Baat. However, things get a little heated between the two when Chawla asked about his smoking habits.

He said, “Shah Rukh Khan mein kaafi kuch badlav aaya hai par ek cheez mein nahi badli… smoking.” (Shah Rukh Khan has changed a lot but hasn’t changed in one thing… smoking). To which SRK replied and said that he promises to quit smoking but got interrupted by Chawla who said that he just keeps promising and never implies that.

SRK replied, “Waada isliye karta hu ki agar bacche TV dekh rhe toh unko yahi kaho ki ye sabse buri aadat hai, cigarette nai pini chahiye.” Chawla then asks SRK what he has really given up. Chawla’s continuous questions irritate SRK and he says, “Aapko Zinda chordh diya hai iss show ke baad, paanch saal pehle mile hote…”

Chawla then tries to cool down things with a joke but SRK decides to continue and says, “Mei jail mei hi hota agar aap 5 saal pehle mile hote toh.” Chawla then replies, “Aap bach gaye aur studio mein aagaye.” SRK then cut him and says, “Nahi aap bach gaye”.

Chawla’s interviews used to be entertaining to watch since he asks straight questions, as the show’s name implies. Balasaheb Thackeray, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Mayawati, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Amitabh Bachchan and numerous other famous personalities appeared on his extensive guest list. SRK is one of Prabhu’s favourite actors among such well-known figures.
