Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for his much-awaited action-thriller Animal which is set to hit the theatres on December 1. However, ahead of that, Ranbir found himself in unfortunate trouble as he was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Mahadev online betting app case.

The ED has been actively investigating a widespread online betting racket that allegedly involves several high-profile individuals, including celebrities and businessmen. Sources reveal that Ranbir Kapoor has been called in for questioning regarding his alleged involvement in endorsing the online betting app and he will be inquired on October 6. The app, which claimed to offer users a chance to bet on various sporting events, came under scrutiny for its alleged illicit activities.

His involvement in the case, whether as a victim of misinformation or a knowing participant, remains to be determined by the investigating authorities. The summons to Kapoor has raised eyebrows within the entertainment industry, and fans are eagerly awaiting further developments in this high-profile case. Bollywood celebrities endorsing various products and services often come under scrutiny, and Kapoor’s case is yet another example of the legal challenges faced by those in the limelight.

Several other actors are also associated with the app

According to digital evidence collected by the Enforcement Directorate, an event management company received Rs 112 crore through hawala transactions, while cash payments totalling Rs 42 crore were made for hotel bookings. Sources disclosed this information last month.

The investigative agency is expected to call in other prominent Bollywood actors and singers for questioning as part of the ongoing Mahadev online betting case investigation. In a previous India Today report, it was revealed that several actors and singers attended the wedding of Sourabh Chandrakar, the promoter of the Mahadev Book app, in the UAE in February of this year.

Among those in attendance were Tiger Shroff, Sunny Leone, Neha Kakkar, Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Asgar, Vishal Dadlani, Elli AvrRam, Bharti Singh, Bhagyashree, Kriti Kharbanda, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Krushna Abhishek, and Sukhwinder Singh.
