‘Abe yaar isne toh saara mood kharab kar diya’ – Twitter slams Farhan Akhtar as he teases fans with new ‘DON’ actor, confirms Shah Rukh Khan’s exit

Bollywood veteran actor and director Farhan Akhtar has finally put all the speculations to rest around the third instalment of his successful movie Don. Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Don in the 1st and 2nd parts of the movie and the project did really well at the box office.

Meanwhile, Farhan took to Twitter and announced that the 3rd part of the movie will be released in 2024. However, fans were left stunned after they got to know that Shar Rukh won’t be a part of the movie. Farhan posted an announcement letter on Twitter and started it by praising 1978 released Amitabh Bachchan’s DON. He then wrote how he worked and brought life to the movie in 2006.

“In 1978, a character created by Salim-Javed and portrayed by Mr Amitabh Bachchan with effortless elan, captured the imagination of theatregoers across the country. That enigmatic character was Don. 

In 2006, Don was reimagined and brought to life by Shah Rukh Khan in his own irresistibly charming way. From Don’s sardonic wit to his cool but menacing fury, Shah Rukh embodied his persona. As writer and director, I had a great time creating not one but two, ‘Don’ films with Shah Rukh and both experiences remain very close to my heart,” he wrote in the post.

Will Ranveer Singh be seen as a new Don?

Farhan also teased the fans with the new star who will be playing the role of Don in Don 3. Earlier some reports surfaced on social media which say that Ranveer Singh may be seen as a new Don. However, fans are refusing to accept the 3rd part without Shah Rukh. However, it‘d be interesting to see how Farhan will go ahead with his project in 2025.

“The time has now come to take the legacy of Don forward and joining us in this new interpretation will be an actor whose talent and versatility I have long admired. We hope that you will show him the love you have so graciously and generously shown to Mr Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A new era of Don begins in 2025. Watch this space,”
