The much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 is not too far away as the major tournament is set to be kicked off on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Almost all the teams have also started preparing for it but Pakistan’s participation in the grand event is still in doubt.

After all the feud over Asia Cup 2023 and ODI World Cup between the Indian Cricket Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ended, both the boards compromised and decided to play in a hybrid model in Asia Cup. Pakistan also agreed to travel to India for the World Cup.

But now it is being reported by Cricbuzz that Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s appointed and Bilawal Bhutto-headed committee is set to organise a high-profile meeting on Thursday, August 3 to discuss Pakistan Cricket Team’s participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India. “A high-profile meeting will decide on the World Cup participation,” a PCB official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup match will now be played on October 14, 2023

It is believed that Pakistan will ask the apex cricket body and the Indian Cricket Board to send some of their officials to check the security preparations for the grand event. They have also asked for the same earlier as well but there was no response from either of them.

PCB also asked to change their venue for their contest against the arch-rivals India which was set to take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad. They said that considering the security issues, the Babar Azam-led side is not comfortable playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium but the Indian Cricket Board refused to change the venue.

However, the contest between India and Pakistan will now be played on October 14 instead of 15. The reason behind the change of the date was the start of Navratri as it is the most celebrated festival in Gujarat, so considering the security issues the board decided to change the dates.
