‘Ab iske liye Jay Shah par ungli mat uthha dena’ – Fans react as floodlight failure causes half an hour delay during Pakistan vs Bangladesh game in Asia Cup 2023
In the first Super Four game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 in Lahore, Pakistan and Bangladesh are locking horns. In the game, the Tigers, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. However, they had a poor start as they lost four wickets for 47 runs. The likes of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah took one wicket each in this phase.
On the other hand, Haris Rauf took two. At this stage, the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan put together 100 runs for the fifth wicket. However, after the wicket of the latter, the team didn’t last long either. While both batters scored individual fifties, the team was bowled out for 193 runs. Rauf took four wickets while Shah took three.
Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore’s floodlight failure delays the game for 30 minutes
In reply, the home side started slowly although Fakhar Zaman was dropped at the slips. Meanwhile, after the first few overs, the floodlights of the venue switched off. This meant that the game was stopped for half an hour. Notably, this is the last game to be played in Pakistan before the rest of the tournament moves to Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital.
Apparently, some games from Pallekele and Kandy have been moved to Colombo. After all, these cities have been marred by rain and have impacted the continental tournament. After a lot of deliberations between Dambulla, Hambantota, and Colombo, the Lankan Capital has been chosen to play the rest of the tournament, resuming on September 9.
On that day, Sri Lanka will play Bangladesh in the reverse fixture. In the Group B game in the previous round, the Lions beat the Tigers by five wickets. Meanwhile, the Tigers are also playing another game against Pakistan. After being bowled out for 193, they have managed to pick two wickets for 74 runs. At the time of writing, the home side, Pakistan’s Imam-ul Haq managed to overturn the decision of him being given out by the on-field umpire.

At first I thought it's a joke. But no… this actually happened.
For all the talk about BCCI not wanting to play in Pak, this happens?

Floodlight failure is still better than match getting washed out due to rain. Stop making it an issue, not the first time and happens everywhere in the world. Just saying 🙏🏼 #AsiaCup2023
