Aakash Chopra asks to stop trolling Suryakumar Yadav for his performance in ODI World Cup final 2023
Suryakumar Yadav was named the T20I captain of India for the series against Australia, which has received serious criticism from the fans. The unorthodox batter had a bad game in the final of the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia. The Indian lower middle order batter struggled to score runs in the final and led to a low score of India. It has received criticism from the fans.
As soon as the Indian squad for the T20I series against Australia was announced, Yadav was trolled by the fans. Aakash Chopra recently spoke about the same and asked the fans to stop blaming Yadav for his performance against Australia in the final. The former Indian cricketer said that Suryakumar has been unfairly singled out for the bad performance of India in the final.
Aakash further claimed that the decision to select Suryakumar as the Indian captain for the T20I series was justified given his success as a batter in the format. Since his debut in 2021, the middle order batter has been India’s best batter in the format, along with Virat Kohli. Aakash said that the rolling of Yadav has been disheartening to see and needs to be stopped.
‘Why blame one person? Stop blaming him” – Aakash Chopra
“Suryakumar Yadav is the captain because he didn’t get many chances in the World Cup. In the final, he didn’t perform well, and that led to a lot of trolling. It’s disheartening. Why blame one person? Stop blaming him,” said Chopra. India selected a young squad for the T20I series against Australia, which has Suryakumar Yadav as the lone player with enough experience under his belt in the recent past.
Chopra felt that Yadav has been unfairly singled out for the loss faced by India. Chopra was of the opinion that the likes of Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer also failed in the final but were not trolled as much as Yadav. The former Indian cricketer added that Yadav performed well in the game against England and did not get enough opportunities in the other games in the tournament.
