The wonderful knocks from Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer followed by Harshal Patel’s 3-for helped India to brush aside the West Indies side in their favourite format.

Another half-century from Nicholas Pooran went in vain as the Indian bowlers didn’t allow West Indies to open their arms in the death overs and they finished 17 runs short of the target.

India     20 overs     184-5

Suryakumar 65 (31)            Chase 1-23                                                                                                             Venkatesh  35*(19)            Holder 1-29

Ruturuj Gaikwad who was making his T20I debut today opened the innings for India with Ishan Kishan.

But unfortunately, it was not a dream debut for him because Jason Holder get rid of him on only 4 runs in the 3rd over.

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer then had a 53 run partnership for the 2nd wicket.

Ishan Kishan again failed to convert his good start into a big knock.

Shreyas Iyer also smashed 4 boundaries in his knock of 25 runs.

Both of them got out in two successive overs to leave India 3 down on 66 runs within the first 10 overs.

Rohit came to bat at no 4 but never looked comfortable batting at this position today as he scored only 7 runs from 15 balls.

The spectacular partnership between SKY and Iyer

After losing 4 wickets on 93 runs, Suryakumar Yadav again stood up to build a match-changing partnership with Venkatesh Iyer for the 5th wicket.

Yadav and Iyer destroyed the West Indies bowling line-up with their outstanding batting.

India scored 21 runs each in the 19th and 20th over, as a total of 86 runs were scored from the last 5 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav thrashed a magnificent knock of 65 runs from just 31 balls including 7 sixes and only one four in his innings.

Venkatesh also played an important role in the death overs and remained unbeaten on 35 runs from 19 deliveries.

The 91 runs stand between these two helped India to score 184-5 from their 20 overs.

The West Indies openers once again failed to provide a good start to their side in this series.

Deepak Chahar removed both the openers in his splendid opening spell.

Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran get their side out of trouble with their  power hitting in the powerplay.

Harshal Patel ended the cameo of Rovman Powell in the 7th over to bring India back into the contest.

Powell smashed 2 fours and 2 sixes in his 25 run innings.

West Indies lost some quick wickets in the middle as Venkatesh Iyer dismissed the dangerous Pollard and Holder cheaply.

Harshal also grabbed his 2nd wicket by removing Chase on 12 runs and West Indies were suddenly 6 down on 100 runs.

Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd tried their best to get their side over the line in the last match of the series but the Indian bowlers didn’t allow them to do so with their impressive death bowling.

Pooran’s 3rd successive half-century

Nicholas Pooran was outstanding throughout the series for West Indies.

Pooran played another excellent knock in the last T20I of the series and scored his third consecutive fifty of the series.

He smashed 61 runs from 47 balls today including 8 fours and a six.
