Changes made to ODI World Cup 2023 schedule

The ODI World Cup 2023 is just months away with the opener between England and New Zealand taking place in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The largest cricket stadium in the world will also host the marquee clashes between India and Pakistan, England and Australia, and the final game on November 19. As such, the Indian Cricket Board and the Apex Cricket Council had earlier announced the schedule publicly for the marquee tournament. However, a few matches had to be rescheduled and the wait was on for the final schedule. The Apex Council has now rescheduled nine games of the upcoming World Cup.

The marquee clash between India and Pakistan has been rescheduled to 14 October from the original date of 15 October which coincided with the Hindu festival of ‘Navratri’. As such, the shift in date also influences a few matches being rescheduled. England’s clash with Afghanistan has been moved from October 14 to October 15. However, there were no changes in the venues of these games. England and Bangladesh were the two teams that saw the most changes to their schedule. Three of their games have been rescheduled in the new World Cup schedule.

No changes made to ODI World Cup 2023 semifinals and final

However, no changes were made to the date, time, and venue of the World Cup semifinals and finals. The two semifinals will be played at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The final will be played at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, as planned earlier in the original schedule.

  • October 15: England vs Afghanistan – Delhi – 2:00 PM
  • November 11: Australia vs Bangladesh – Pune – 10:30 AM
  • November 11: England vs Pakistan – Kolkata – 2:00 PM
  • November 12: India vs Netherlands – Bengaluru – 2:00 PM
