Oblak to leave Atletico Madrid?

Slovenian Jan Oblak is one of the most sought after goalies in world football.

He has made 360 appearances in total for Atletico since joining the club in 2014.

However, the Slovenian is out of contract at the end of the season.

Till now, Oblak has not indicated that he is prepared to renew.

Naturally, the La Liga club are looking at replacing the shot stopper in the summer.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is emerging as a surprise target for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Martinez has only played twice in the Champions League, playing for Arsenal in the 2014-15 season.

However, he has become a key player for Aston Villa in the Premier League since leaving the Gunners in 2020.

Also, the Argentina no.1 is one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League at present.

Martinez is also part of the Argentine national squad in Qatar.

As per sources, if Oblak leaves Atletico, his next destination could well be Manchester United.

Their goalie, David De Gea is out of contract at the end of this season.

Though United have the option to extend his deal by a further year, they are undecided about whether to give the Spaniard a new contract.
