IPL nuggets: Meet the ‘Ferrari’ of Rajasthan Royals

What’s with the name, eh?

Well, in a recent Instagram post, the spin pair of Rajasthan Royals, Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal posted a picture with this guy that went viral.

Well, he is none other than Donovan Ferreira from South Africa,

Punning on his name, the Indian spinners christened him ‘Ferrari’!

Ferreira was bought by RR for Rs 50 lakh at the IPL 2023 auction.

The 24-year-old plays for Joburg Super Kings in SA20.

So far, he has played 37 T20s, scoring 703 runs and picking up 10 wickets.

The right-hander recently smashed a century in a first-class game for the Titans against the Warriors.

Interestingly, he is a wicketkeeper besides being a part-time bowler.

Former India pacer RP Singh was impressed with the new Rajasthan Royals recruit and said that he would bring a lot of variety in the RR line-up.

“Royals fans will be happy with Ferreira. He brings a lot of variety to the team, fields well.”

He is a keeper and bowls as well. Love his intent, plays aggressive, and looks to play straight and plays spinners well as well. He played big shots and can absorb the pressure well,” RP Singh said.

Unfortunately, Ferreira is likely to warm the bench in the IPL due to the presence of specialist wicketkeeper batters in the form of RR captain Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler.
