The much-awaited ODI World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. Australian skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first as he believed that dew would play its role in the 2nd innings.

Meanwhile, India’s young sensation and opening batter Shubman Gill failed to contain his pressure and departed after scoring just 4 runs. It was a short-of-a-length delivery, Gill is known for his short-arm jab pull shots off the front foot. He tried one, but this didn’t come on as expected so he ended up hitting it straighter and straight to Adam Zampa at mid-on. Fans reacted to it and expressed their disappointment on social media.

We have to stay nice and calm: Rohit Sharma

It was quite surprising to Gill go for a 4 as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was playing aggressively from the other end. However, Gill still went for a big shot and silenced the whole stadium by throwing his wicket. Meanwhile, Rohit after losing the toss said that they’d have batted first as they want to put runs on the scoreboard. He further added and said that they will have to stay nice and calm as it’s a big game for the whole nation.

“I would have batted first. Looks like a good pitch, a big game put runs on the board. It’s going to be amazing, every time we play here, the crowd come out in large numbers. The biggest occasion of the cricketing event. We have to stay nice and calm. It’s a dream come true to be captaining the team in the final. I know what lies in front of us. We need to play well and get the result. You have to make the right decisions on the field. That’s something we’ve done consistently in the last 10 games.” Rohit said during the toss.
