R. Premadasa Stadium

As rain has turned the Asia Cup 2023 into a hoax tournament, the second India vs. Pakistan game was abandoned due to rain on Saturday. After a play of 24 overs, rain did not allow players to produce a fiery rivalry at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, there is a reserved day for the match, and it will be played on Monday at the same time.

Ahead of the game on the reserve day, the fans have some hope. The weather has cleared on the ground as rain has stopped in Colombo. It is worth noting that there was a heavy downpour on Sunday night, and it will take a lot of effort from the groundmen to clear the field ahead of the game. Meanwhile, according to the latest weather updates, there are plenty of chances of rain during match time.

The latest weather forecast reveals that Colombo will receive moderate to heavy rainfall after 5 p.m., with up to 90 per cent chance of rain. It also reveals that there will be scattered clouds throughout the day, maintaining humidity at 85. It is worth noting that if today’s rain does not allow for a complete game, then both teams will get a point each.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill thrashed Pakistan

Earlier in the game, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first. His decision backfired on Pakistan as both India openers thrashed the Pakistan bowlers. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 121 runs for the first wicket in just 16.4 overs. Their aggressive batting approach helped India counter the fiery Pakistani pacers.

Rohit, in his innings, scored 56 runs off 49 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. Meanwhile, Gill, in his innings, scored 58 runs off 52 balls with the help of ten boundaries. However, soon after scoring half-centuries, both openers departed with soft dismissals. On reserve day, Virat Kohli and wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul will take charge from where they left on Sunday, i.e., 142/2 in 24.1.
