Bangladesh and India’s women’s team clashed against each other in the 2nd T20I match of the 3-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Monday, July 11. India defeated the Bangladeshi team by just 8 runs in the thrilling contest which went to the last over. With this win, India have also won the series.

Meanwhile, India’s young allrounder Shafali Verma displayed a historical bowling performance in the match. The 19-year-old youngster was given the ball to defend 10 runs in the last over of the match. Bangladesh had 4 wickets in hand and it looked like they will successfully chase the target but that didn’t happen as Shafali finished it off by taking 3 wickets in the last over and conceded only 2 runs.

Got to give credit to all our bowlers: Harmanpreet Kaur

Talking about the match, India Women won the toss and opted to bat first however, their decision proved wrong as they were bundled out for just 95 runs after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Indian batters displayed a poor batting performance as the highest score from the Indian team was just 19 runs came from Shafali’s bat.

Bangladesh’s spinners displayed a great bowling performance. Chasing the target, Indian bowlers also bowled well and got some early breakthroughs, however, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana was batting really well but Deepti Sharma got rid of her in the 19th over and it was all over for them when Shafali destroyed the tail of the team in the last over. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur talked about the match in the post-match conference.

“It is a part of the game, sometimes your plan does not work but in the second innings, we showed our character. Got to give credit to all our bowlers, they were bowling under pressure but they did well and also the fielders. In this series, we have a couple of young bowlers who are gonna take the responsibility and it’s important to show trust in them. We are not gonna hide them on the field. All of them took responsibility and did well.” Harmanpreet was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
