Afghanistan medium-pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has revealed that former India skipper Virat Kohli was the one who took the initiative to bury the hatchet. Apparently, during the reverses fixture of the IPL 2023 between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, both Naveen and Kohli had a verbal spat. After the game, this also led to Kohli and Gambhir having a fight over the matter.

While the Afghanistan international was fined 50 percent, Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 percent of their match fees after the match. After this, whenever the former India skipper failed with the bat during the IPL 2023, Haq posted trolling stories for his Indian counterpart. Fast forward to the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India and Afghanistan played each other on October 11.

Ahead of the match, the fans were anticipating a match-up between Kohli and Haq. However, to the surprise of the fans, both patched up and it became a massive story despite India skipper Rohit Sharma scoring the fastest hundred for India in ODI World Cups. Thanks to this, the Men In Blue chased down 273 runs in just 35 overs.

Virat Kohli told me to finish the fight: Naveen-Ul-Haq

Meanwhile, in a video released by the Lucknow Super Giants, the right-arm pacer has revealed that Kohli asked him to settle this fight and move on.

“We got support in every game apart from that one game against India. Rather than that, we got a home kind of a feeling,” said Naveen.

“He told me ‘let’s finish it.’ I said yeah let’s finish it. We laughed about it, we hugged and moved on. He also said that after this you won’t hear my name. You will only hear support from the crowd,” said Naveen.
